Running on Windows 2000
posted

I currently have the following configuration:

OS: Windows 2000 SP4

VS: 2005 SP1

SQL Server: 2005 SP1

Infragistics: NetAdvantage for .NET 2007 Volume 3 (as an evaluation copy)

When I try to go into VS design mode my CPU pegs 50%, the designer never comes up, and my IDE breaks (i.e. can't use the arrow keys, backspace, Ctrl-Tab, etc. ... I can still type, but can't cut and paste unless I use the mouse).  Very strange.  So I'm now in the process of determining what is not compatible with what.  This is the first time I've used VS 2005, SQL Server 2005 and Infragistics on a Win 2000 machine.

The reason I'm wondering about Infragistics is because I'm currently working in a project that does not have any Infragistics controls, but I'm getting an error that I think is related to Infragistics when I open the project in VS.

Package Load Failure
Package ‘Visual Web Developer Trident Designer Package’ has failed to load properly.  Please contact package vendor for assistance.  Application restart is recommended, due to possible environment corruption.

Any ideas?

I do not recognize the "Trident Designer Package" from any Infragistics DLL, but a quick Google search of that term seems to cluster on Microsoft forums and blogs.
