Hello ,
we have been automating .Net application using QTP 10. but some of the infragistics controls are not
getting recognized by the QTP. some of the objects with NetAdvantageTM 2005 Vol. 3 CLR 2.0 version
embeded into the application. We knew that Test Advantage of yours will solve our problem,
Still, I would like to know few details from you,
a) Do you have supported Test Advantage for NetAdvantageTM 2005 Vol. 3 CLR 2.0.?
b) If Yes, Can we get trail and licensed version to verify it on the application and Will this support QTP 10 version.
Your feedback will help us to go further.
Regards
Chary Chelloji
Hi Chary,
With how QuickTest Professional is designed, to have comprehensive support for custom controls similar to our NetAdvantage for Windows Forms control, you need to have proxies designed to interface with it.
This is the essense of what TestAdvantage is, they are custom proxies designed for each release of NetAdvantage so that you can interface seemlessly with QuickTest Professional. We have TestAdvantage QuickTest Professional proxies for Windows Forms controls as far back as the 2004 Volume 3 release. So to answer your question, yes we do have support for 2005 Volume 3 CLR 2.0.
As to your second question, in regards to getting trial versions. To get trial versions that far back you will need to contact our sales department. sales@infragistics.com . As to second part of your second question, if it will support QuickTest Professional 10, while I have not specifically tested 2005 Volume 3 with QuickTest Professional 10, as the release dates were over four years apart. QuickTest Professional has proven to be backwards compatible with all of our proxies to date, so it is my belief that it should work fine.
Chary,
There is a know issue with installer for older versions of TestAdvantage that were released before QTP 9.5. You will face this issue as TestAdvantage 2005 Vol 3 falls into this category.
You can find more information and a solution for the installer issue here: http://community.infragistics.com/forums/p/15955/159446.aspx#159446

Thanks for your responses.
As you specified above, I have emailed to sales team at (sales@infrgistics.com) for some more infromation. But I haven't recieved any response from them to move further.
Based on the feedback from sales team, we shall decide next steps. Did I connected to intended recipient thorugh my last email. Otherwise, Please direct me to right place.
Hello Ammar,
I found Test Advantage trail version and installed it in my machines as per the instructions specified at http://community.infragistics.com/forums/p/15955/159446.aspx#159446 link.
After successful installation of Test Advantage, I have opened QTP 10 and started recording steps on the Infragistics controls. but corresponding test steps are not getting recorded in the QTP.
Kindly suggest me, if any things need to be done for issue.
Note:
Before installing Test Advantage, QTP was able to record actions on the infragistics controls atleast using x,y coordinates.
Thanks Ammar for the reply.
I have taken trail version (Test Advantage 2005 Vol3, CLR 2.0) from your sales department and verified it using QTP 10. I have attached requested file. Kindly let me know, whether attached file is accessible to you or not.
The only possible reason for this is having the wrong TestAdvantage version. according to the screenshot that I got from our Sales rep, the application you are testing is built with NetAdvantage 2005 Vol 3 CLR2.0 This means that you need TestAdvantage 2005 vol 3 CLR2.0. Is that the version you have? if not please install the right version then using the version utility from the Start Menu make sure the correct version is selected and try again.
If you already have the right version then the issue might be a configuration issue. Please send me the SwfConfig.xml file located in "C:\Program Files\HP\QuickTest Professional\dat" this file contains the mapping information required for TestAdvantage and I've seen issues where this file got corrupted.
we have been using concurrent licences for QTP 10. Licence Server is hosted at remote place. QTP 10 has installed on my machine where Test Advantage is installed as per instructions specified above.
Is this correct installation of Test Advantage?
