Data Widgets 3.11 (or 3.13) and VB 6.0 application

I have a Visual Basic 6.0 application that uses Infragistics Data Widgets 3.11 in it. On the original machine I used while maintaining it (I’m not the original developer), the product must have been installed already. However, when I moved the working files for this application to new machine I kept getting a warning telling me that the Data Widgets 3.11 were not properly installed or registered. I talked to our IT person and he gave me the disk (which is for Data Widgets 3.13) to install.

I ran the installer fine, and the warning does not appear any more telling me to reinstall the Widgets but I now get this error in when I try to open any forms that use the Widgets:

Line 22: Cannot load control #######; license not found.

I had to enter the license key when I installed the Widgets. Why is it not recognizing that?

Are you sure that the control who's license is failing is a Data Widgets controls? Maybe it's from another product?

I've found two different objects that I'm getting this error from, both appear to be Sheridan Software Data Widgets. One is the THREED OLE Custom Control and the other says it's a Sheridan 3D control.

Okay, as I suspected neither of those controls are from Data Widgets. They probably came from a different product called ActiveThreed. There were also versions of those controls that were installed with Visual Basic.

So why was this application, when it's working files were migrated to my system, demanding that I reintall Sheridan Software (now Infragistics)'s Data Widgets 3.11? So that I could access controls that were installed with Visual Basic???

If you got a message telling you that you need to install Data Widgets, then I can only assume your project is also using other controls from the DataWidgets product.

Found the problem. Was a combination of the two. Installed the Data Widgets and then re-registered the VB6 Controls. That last should not have been necessary with the VB install being fresh (and a complete install), but it was anyways. Thank you, Microsoft.

In any case, I seem to be in good shape now.
