This is one of the largest Code Camps with over 3,500 registered attendees. The Foothill College campus was an ideal venue due to the sprawling layout. Peter Kellner did a superb job of organizing the event. Microsoft was present to show off their “Microstang.” Being from Detroit, I was naturally drawn to this custom ride equipped with Windows 8 and Kinect – quite different from the Mustang that I sported in the 80’s. I did a new talk: MVVM Distilled- JavaScript. The talk focused on the fundamentals of the MVVM pattern. Because most of the attendees were more comfortable with C# compared to JavaScript, I did the first demo in C#. I then demoed the same application in JavaScript. I believe that this format helps ease the learning curve for folks getting into the HTML5 / JS stack. Other speaking topic categories included Mobile Apps, HTML5/CSS, and Testing Frameworks. If you a developer in the Silicon Valley, I recommend attending the next one. Whether or not you are focused on the Microsoft stack, there are a variety of sessions for enrichment.
