The NetAdvantage™ for Visual Studio® LightSwitch Release Candidate (RC) version was released on the 26th of July 2011. This blog post explains how to uninstall the RC version and install the latest Release To Marketing (RTM) version.

Checking the Number of the Installed Version

Before starting the procedure, you may want to check what the number of the installed version is.

Table 1 compares the version numbers of both RC and RTM versions.

You can see which version you have installed in Windows Control Panel > Programs and Features > Add/Remove Programs (Figure 1).

Uninstalling the Release Candidate

Uninstalling the NetAdvantage for Visual Studio LightSwitch RC version is done through the Windows Control Panel followed by Programs and Features / Add Remove Programs

Installing the Release to Marketing

Installing NetAdvantage for Visual Studio LightSwitch requires downloading and running the installation file. The installer will automatically register the Infragistics for Visual Studio LightSwitch Extensions on your machine.

1. Download and unpack the Installer.

   Login to your Infragistics account and navigate to My IG> My Keys and Downloads.

   Click on the NetAdvantage tab.

   Select the NetAdvantage for Visual Studio LightSwitch product link and start the download.

   Unzip the file.

2. Run the Installer.

   Double-click and run the execution file. The starting step screen of installation procedure appears.

   

   Click Next to start the Installation wizard.

   This takes you to the license agreement step.

   

   Read select the I accept the License agreement option, and then click the Next button.

   You are now required to enter your product key.

   

   (Optional) Change the default Full Name and Organization, if necessary.

   Enter your Product Key (You can retrieve it from your Infragistics account under My IG > Keys and Downloads.)

   (Optional) Select the appropriate installation option (Anyone who uses this computer or Only for me) and then click Next to continue.

   You are now asked to set up the installation folder. The default location is the Infragistics folder in Program Files.

   

   Change the destination folder if desired, and then click the Next button.

   The final screen of the wizard appears.

   

   Click Next start the installation.

   Once the installation is complete, the following screen will appear:

   

   Click Finish to close the Installer.

Note: If your Visual Studio has been open while installing the NetAdvantage for Visual Studio LightSwitch, you’ll need to re-launch the Visual Studio so that the LightSwitch extensions to be shown in the Extensions Manager.
