Hi
I have downloaded the latest bundle of Infragistics Ultimate (more than 2GB!) and during the installation I found that I still need to download the WPF service release (about 70MB).
I can use a download tool so the download of bundle speed is OK but the download during installation is very slow now, even it's only 70MB.
So I'm curious why the latest WPF service release is not included in the latest bundle? What's the main intention of a service release? If I just want to update WPF, should I download just the WPF service release or the bundle, or both?
Thanks,
Fei
Hello ,
I’ve asked our development team about this and it seems that volume release was in “code freeze” stage when we’ve decided to include several fixes in the volume release. So in order not to postpone volume release, it seems that management team decided to include those fixes in service release which was completed earlier of the planned.
Please let me know if I could help you with anything else.
Thanks & I agree with you.
But currently the bundle version was released on April 21 (some files were created on April 22), and the service release version was released on April 22. They seem to be on same version. That's why I thought they should be included in one download.
Best Regards,
Hello,
Service releases are not included in the bundle installer, because it will make the bundle too big and moreover bundles was released before the service release. If we should ship latest service release with the initial bundle, it means that for each service release we should re-release the volume bundle in order to include latest service release. Instead our installer could be configured (by default it is configured so) to check for updates and to install the latest updates.
Main purpose of the service releases is to address issues in the same volume, which are found after the volume was released. Usually those are issues, where component is used in very custom scenario, which are very hard to predict. And if you want to apply service release you should install first the base version and then to apply service release.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.
