Hi, I am interested to bring cell in edit mode on key press or key down. I don't want to use IsOnCellActiveEditingEnabled as it makes cell in edit mode enven on cell is active. Further more is there any property to check if a cell is in edit mode or being edited. Thanks Imran Javed Zia

Unfortunately, there isn't a way to do this. A TextBox must have focus in order capture a key to translate it into text. And Silverlight currently doesn't offer the events that would be be needed to find the original key that was pressed.

In this case i've add filter for different keys too, like Ctrl, Alt, Function Keys and etc. Further more in this was first key pressed is lost.
for example I press 123 on some cell then 1 will be wasted in invoking cell edit and only 23 will appear in the cell.
To add to what SteveZ pointed out, to enter edit mode on key down you could add an event handler for Grid's KeyDown event and call EnterEditMode() API. This will cause the currently active cell to enter Edit mode (if it's an Editable Cell):
private void igGrid_KeyDown(object sender, KeyEventArgs e)

if (!((Cell)igGrid.ActiveCell).IsEditing)
igGrid.EnterEditMode();
}

There is a property on the Cell object called IsEditing. (Note: it's on the Cell object not CellBase, so you will need to cast)
