I would use xamWebMap to represent some data on a map. The aplication that I use is not internet connected, so I need a map stored in my pc. The map has to represent just a Region of Italym with the names of Provinces and Municipalities.
Can I use XamWebWap to do that?
Where can I find this map? Online I found only shapefile of Italy.

I'm evaluating for my company to purchase xamWebMap. I downloaded the trial version, I have some shapefiles downloaded from the Internet, but most of them I can't see. I also tried to convert a .dwg file using CAD2Shape, but but resulting shapefile I can't see.

Do you mean that that worked for you? Or isnt? The basic idea is that the control is, by default, applying a coordinate transform on the shape files you present. Because it is most common that the files should be projected using the Spherical Mercator projection, this is the default of the control. If your shape file contains coordinates that are pre-projected, you have to identify to the control which coordinate system is in use in the file, so that its projection can be reversed before being reapplied in the control.

I think perhaps the attached shape file is not well optimized for viewing in this map control. Rather than defining the geometry of the map as paths, it defines some 13k individual points which the control renders as individual symbols. If you specify the symbol type you should get a rendering like this:

Is there a good reason why your shapefile is defined this way rather than using paths or surfaces? I will try to determine if there is some configuration that can be done to improve the performance of this file.

Could you describe your use case in more detail? What is the driver behind the geometry being defined as points? A tool constraint?
