You need to restyle the selector control. These areas, you have mentioned, are not mandatory and you can remove them if you want. From the Start menu find NetAdvantage product folder and look for the shortcut of the Themes folder. This is where you will find all default styles of the controls and other resources as well. Find the style which targets the XamPivotDataSelector, copy and add it in your application’s or page’s resources collection and then do the modifications you want. Because XamPivotDataSelectos is dependent on other resources’ definitions you have to add them to the resources as well.

Another and easiest way to achieve this of course is to use Expression Blend.
