Nothing new in 2014.2 except that it is complete removed from the front web page. This is bad, the reporting tools are in dire need of being updated and fixed. The WYSIWYG report designer feels old and is missing a lot of common and practical functions.
Are the reporting components a dead end? Is something new worked upon?
I really must know. Business Critical issues are at stake for me.
Hello Hans and thank you for posting!
We value the customer’s feedback and will be glad if you could log the missing features and functionalities at: http://ideas.infragistics.com/forums/211536-reporting?filter=hot&page=1 so when new implementations are being made those suggestions will be taken into consideration. Below there are additional information about the process and its benefits.Steps to create your idea: 1. Log into the Infragistics Product Ideas site at http://ideas.infragistics.com (creating a new login if needed).2. Navigate to the product / platform channel of your choice (e.g. WPF, Windows Forms, ASP.NET, HTML5 / Ignite UI, iOS / NucliOS, etc.)3. Add your product idea and be sure to be specific and provide as much detail as possible. Explain the context in which a feature would be used, why it is needed, why it can’t be accomplished today, and who would benefit from it. You can even add screenshots to build a stronger case. Remember that for your suggestion to be successful, you need other members of the community to vote for it. Be convincing!
The benefits of submitting the product idea yourself include:- Direct communication with our product management team regarding your product idea.- Notifications whenever new information regarding your idea becomes available.
Additional benefits of the Product Idea system include:
- Ability to vote on your favorite product ideas to let us know which ones are the most important to you. You will have ten votes for this and can change which ideas you are voting for at any time.- Allow you to shape the future of our products by requesting new controls and products altogether.- You and other developers can discuss existing product ideas with members of our Product Management team.
The product ideas site allows you to track the progress of your ideas at any time, see how many votes it got, read comments from other developers in the community, and see if someone from the product team has additional questions for you.
Yes, I know all about that. And I have suggested improvements, some of which are even flagged as 'under consideration'. But so far nothing has come out of it.
And by dodging my questions I can only assume that the reporting part of is something Infragistics don't plan to do anything about and might even remove from the toolkit.
So sad. Oh well. Let's start looking what the other companies are doing in reporting...
Hello Timothy!
We are too heavily invested right now to switch in our current project. For new Projects, a switch is likely but we have not yet selected another Product.
We are also waiting for the "big change in reporting" that Infragistic announced will happen in their next release. But we're not having big hopes.
/Peter
so it looks like Infragistics is telling us "You should be using your iPhone for reports anyway, stupid!" with the release of 15.1 What? Has anyone got an alternative. this stinks because i use the Reporting a lot in several applications, some of which aren't finished yet and some that are.
As we have now seen in 15.1 there is no reporting anymore. 14.2 is the last version.
If Infragistics have opted to no longer develop and support Reporting it would only be fair to let us know with a straight answer. Please, tell us of your plans.
Hi,
I understand you concerns regarding the future support of the Infragistics Reporting. According to the market trends Infragistics is working to meet the latest requirements and provide a new reporting tool that supports rich data visualization, dashboards, mobility and much more. This product is ReportPlus and is available for about a year now for iOS and Android. A desktop version is about to be released later this year. That is the reason a decision for retiring the Infragistics Reporting was made. It will be supported for three more years and bug fixes will be released in the next year. In the following blog post Jason Beres has shared additional details about the process and the new reporting product: http://ko.infragistics.com/community/blogs/jason_beres/archive/2015/04/13/product-status-change-notification-infragistics-reporting.aspx. Please feel free to let me know if you have any additional questions.
...and will this new Reporting thing "ReportPlus" for desktop be included with Infragistics Professional 2015 ?
