I am in the process of evaluating TestAdvantage for WPF version 2011.1 as the application I am supposed to test is built using Netadvantage 2011.1.
I installed QTP 11 all of it latest patches and the TestAdvantage 2011.1. The Testadvantage addin is visible in the Addons list but when I try to record the objects the XamDatagrid is not visible. Also, I tried to runthe sample application that came with Test Advantage but it fails at the very first step where the first tab has to be clicked (application does open).
Please help.

Have you had a chance to try this on a Windows XP VM? Do you still need assistance on this?
So after debugging the issue I could see where an exception was being thrown inside our licensing code which is what lead to the "Trial has expired" message in QTP. It seems that the trial license that is created by the installer ended up with some missing information which caused the license to be in a "TrialExpired" state immediately after installation. This may be caused by the fact that the installer was created back in 2008 before Windows 7 was released. The installer probably fails to write the complete trial license to Windows 7 which ends up with the behavior we're both seeing.
Is it possible for you to get a Windows XP VM and use that instead? That 8.3 installer was tested on Windows XP, not Windows 7, so everything should work fine when installed to Windows XP. The actual version of QTP shouldn't matter so you can still use QTP 11.
Just a quick update. We've gone over the license files and registry entries but haven't found anything that would cause this behavior so I'm going to debug the TestAdvantage source code to see where the licensing checks are going wrong. I'll update you again tomorrow on how things are going.
