WebCombo is not hiding a column I specify to hide.

I have a web combo and bind to datasource.  I go into the designer and specify column 1 to be hidden. 

I go into the XML and verify that for that column 1 that HIDDEN="TRUE" is there.

I run the project and it always shows the column I am trying to hide. This works in numerous other

modules. What could be preventing this from hiding the column?
