I want to allow the user to upload a document (doc, pdf) and then a link show up in the editor to that document.  What is the best process?

"Open" I don't think was it.  I tried Upload as well.  In both cases I get an access denied error which I don't get since "everyone" has full write permissions.  I just want to know the process before I tackle this issue going down the wrong path.
