it seems to me that the area chart has problems with displaying empty values. (The blue line has nearly the same data but does not have the problem.)

Let me know if this helps
Setting the correct Null data handling (Interpolate simple) helps for Area-Chart. For Spline-Area-Chart the problem is still present.
