We are using infragistics ultrawebgrid and grouping and expanding functionality .We have large data .For large data e.row.Expanded(true) is giving long running javascript error .So we implemented javascript function .But is there any property so by deafult column should come expanded instead of collapse,so we can atleast avoid calling javascript on page load. Please let me know any property.
Hello Sharma,This is the default behavior of the control. IF you like the first band to be expanded you need to handle the initialize row event and expand it manually as you said you did. I created a test sample which uses northwind. I could not face any issues with the sample as described from you. Please let me know what is the datasource of your grid and how many rows it contains. Also is it possible to use paging? Does the mentioned javasctipt error occurs in all browsers? Is your build of NetAdvantage the same as one from the sample? Please also take a note that our classic controls are officially retired in the latest versions of NetAdvantage and they contain only the Ajax Aikido controls. Thanks for the quick response.In one page, We can have15 groups or more and each groups can have 1500 or more rows .I will discuss on this first and then will discuss on other.I don't have any other browser accept then IE8 and i cannot test on other also because of company policies. I am asking about any ultrawebgrid propery like "ExpandDefault =true ",so it automatically expand rows instad of calling e.row.expanded(true) in intialization row. For large data i am getting page but with error "Long running javascript".
To add more cannot use pagination .

IE 8 has known performance issues with html tables. Please refer to the following link where optimizations are proposed - http://forums.infragistics.com/forums/p/60699/308359.aspx#308359 Also we have a section in our online help where it is shown performance tricks - http://help.infragistics.com/NetAdvantage/ASPNET/2011.1/CLR4.0/?page=WebGrid_Performance.html Another options is to use our new Aikido controls – WebDataGrid/WebHierarchicalDataGrid which are Ajax based and are designed to be performance optimized. There is no build in property to set the default to be expanded. Your approach to handle the event is the right one.

I am using TableLayout=auto and colWidthdeafult='' to autosize column width based on content and remove all width from the columns and column content are overlapping=hidden . Some of the values are hidden and columns width are not adjusting based on content.I am missing someother propertly.
What is the proper way to adjust column based on content.
