I'm seeing a generic "The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance." This on 10.9.1. Is there a fix?
The software version is Infragistics NUCLiOS 2013 Volume 2 Trial.
Hello Caylan,
Sometimes the reason for this issue is that the logged in user does not have permission as an admin. Could you answer the following questions:
To troubleshoot this, please send an installation log file?
Let me know if you have any additional questions.
Thank you for your update. We’ve tried to reproduce this issue internally using the trial version downloaded from our website but we are not seeing this error so we will need some more information.
Does the following path exist after the install shows the error?:
“/Developer/Infragistics/NUCLiOS 2013 Volume 2/"
If so, please provide us with the version number of the IG.Framework file located here: “/Developer/Infragistics/NUCLiOS 2013 Volume 2/Framework/IG.framework”
To get the version number, select the file, Command+Click then choose "Get Info".
Let me know if you have any questions regarding this matter.
No, the /Developer/Infragistics directory is not created.
Same error when installing using command line:
$ sudo /usr/sbin/installer -pkg Infragistics_NucliOS_2013_2_Trial.pkg -target /Password:installer: Package name is Infragistics NUCLiOS 2013 Volume 2 Trialinstaller: Installing at base path /installer: The install failed (The Installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.)
Here is the verbose output:
$ sudo /usr/sbin/installer -verbose -pkg Infragistics_NucliOS_2013_2_Trial.pkg -target /installer: Package name is Infragistics NUCLiOS 2013 Volume 2 Trialinstaller: Installing at base path /installer: Preparing for installation….....installer: Preparing the disk….....installer: Preparing Infragistics NUCLiOS 2013 Volume 2 Trial….....installer: Waiting for other installations to complete….....installer: Configuring the installation….....installer:#installer: The install failed (The Installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.)
Thank you for providing logs, however we are still not quite sure what is causing this issue. We uploaded the latest Trial build, which has been tested in-house and was installed successfully. Please use the following link to download this new build, restart your machine and then run the new installer. Let me know if the issue persists. Thank you.
Here is the URL for the new build: http://download.infragistics.com/users/2013.2/NucliOS/NUCLiOS_20132_WithSamplesAndHelp_Trial.zip
Ammar sent me a zip file with a shell script. I was able to manually install the trial. The pkg still does not work on my system. Feel free to contact me if you come up with a solution.
I have been contacted by Ammar informing me that you were successfully able to install the trial. At this time if you have any further questions or concerns do not hesitate to ask. Thanks again.
No change. So strange... I have a project I'd like to start working on, so please consider this a high priority. I'm available via Skype to troubleshoot this.
Can you try
chmod -R 777 /Developer
I've verified/repaired permissions - still shows error
I ran "chmod -R go+w /Developer" - still shows error
I'm available for Skype screenshare with you if you would like to see this first hand.
The package looks good as far as pkgutil is concerned:
