Working with DataTable bound to UltraGrid in seperate thread
posted

I have a form with an ultragrid, the ultragrid has a datatable bound to it.  I have a procedure that loops through all the rows in the bound datatable to process the information that I start in a seperate thread.  I get the exception error shown below during the procedure.  It appears the ultragrid is refreshing the display and fighting with the procedure still working with the datatable. I have different items on the form that get updated during the procedure.  To keep the form updating nicely during the procedure is the only reason i'm using a seperate thread.   Is there a way I can make the two play 'nice'?

Basically what you need to do is to Invoke any calls that update the data back to the main thread; when the data is updated, the grid receives a notification from the data source and attempts to update, which is what causes these types of threading issues; in .NET you should not make any changes that will affect the UI on anything but the main thread.  You can take a look at this KB article, and the second part, for ideas on how to do this.
