I've noticed that at design time if I rip off a docked control and make it floating it vanishes. I then have to click the "hide floating windows" item on the menu for the control twice in order to see them again. Seems a bit daft.
This sounds like a bug. I would recommend submitting it to the support group: http://ko.infragistics.com/gethelp.
