This is the 12.2.20122.2018 version of the controls. The combo is bound to a list that contains words in Korean. If the user enables the Korean IME in Windows and then types a character and either hits the space bar or the right arrow key the character is duplicated and auto-complete does not work.
Has this been reported before and if so is there a fix?

Yes, an issue was fixed related to an extra character being added in version 16.2 and resolved in 16.2 build 2032 and later.

Any chance this was ever hotfixed or patched into the 12.2 version?
Unfortunately no. I recommend installing the latest 18.2 volume, out now, to see if the issue goes away.
