Clearing nullable datetime values

Hallo, I think I'm missing something obvious here: I have a column in a grid that is of type (DateTime?). While I can set a value in a row via: selectedRow.Cells["DateCompleted"].Value = DateTime.Now; I cannot clear the value via: selectedRow.Cells["DateCompleted"].Value = null; Because null is not of type System.Nullable'(System.DateTime). I've tried DBNull's. What am I forgetting here? Indika

When you say you cannot set the value to null, what exactly do you mean? I beleive that setting the column to null should work.
What happens when you do so?

An attempt to selectedRow.Cells["DateCompleted"].Value = null; results in an "Unable to convert from '(null)' to 'System.Nullable'1[System.DateTime]' exception. The strange thing about this is that a window pop up with the error, despite being in a try catch any exception block.

Hm. Well, that's clearly wrong. What version of the grid are you using? Maybe you need to get the latest Hot Fix? If you already have the latest and still have the same problem, I recommend that you Submit an incident to Infragistics Developer Support. Include a small sample project demonstrating the error if you can.

Are you getting an exception on the actual line of code that does the set? If so, then I wonder if your try...catch is working, but you simply have the Visual Studio IDE set up to break on all exceptions and that this exception is being caught and handled.

I have a hunch that the message that appears (informing that a null cannot be converted to a System.DateTime) is not an exception, but a dialog box. The UltraGrid I'm using is: Infragistics2.Win.UltraWinGrid.v8.1 8.1.20081.1000 I've searched all over the site and haven't found location of the hotfixes. Please direct me. Also, I've create a test project that recreates this error, and will log it as an incident if the hotfix doesn't change it. In the mean time, Hidden property of the cell can be set to true.
