I am having a problem maintaining the wingrid layout and focus on a row after I refresh the data.
I am using a parent grid which is read-only and child grid which is editable. The parent grid has grouping functionality and users will typically have three bands grouped (three levels of grouping). A row is then selected in the parent grid which then returns rows to the child grid, a row is updated in the child grid which updates a cell in the matching row of the parent grid. When the data is refreshed I lose focus on the row in the parent grid because the grid collapses all the rows. I never delete any rows only edit rows in the child grid which updates a cell in the parent grid. After the refresh I need to return/keep focus on the row in the parent grid whilst maintaining the users layout.
Has anyone had this problem and solved it? Any help is appreciated.

Our solution was to use your rowindexes along with taking a snapshot of the grid state before the refresh.

I've just thought of another way which might be easier/quicker depending on what happens to your data source.
Using the ListIndex property would give you the benefit of using Infragistics methods to retrieve the original row.
Before the refresh...
int index = ultraGrid1.ActiveRow.ListIndex;
After the refresh...
UltraGridRow row = ultraGrid1.Rows.GetRowWithListIndex(index);
Then use the returned row as before.

Sure, a good old foreach loop should do it. This function should provide the same result.
private UltraGridRow GetRowForObject(UltraGrid grid, object savedObject)

foreach (UltraGridRow row in grid.Rows)
if (row.ListObject == savedObject)
return row;
return null;

I see that LINQ is only available in .NET 3.5 I'm on NetAdvantage 2007 Vol. 3 CLR 2.0. Is there anyway I can achieve this using my current version?

You could try using the underlying data. Save the row's ListObject before the refresh then look for it afterwards.
I don't know of a built-in method to find the row for a specific ListObject so I use this LINQ query instead:
UltraGridRow row = (from UltraGridRow r in routeGrid.Rows where r.ListObject == savedListObject select r).FirstOrDefault();
You can then use the previous methods to bring it into view.
