At design time I have set the ValueList of a column to an UltraDropDown control.
The UltraDropDown control has the ValueMember set to an Identity, the DisplayMember is set to the Description of the Identity.
When editing the cell, the dropdown works correctly and the DisplayMember is displayed in the cell.
But when the data is loaded into the grid the ValueMember is displayed in the cell.
I must be missing something simple.
This sound like either an issue of timing or data types.
Since you are setting the ValueList of the column at design-time, the only timing issue I could see is if the DataSource on the UltraDropDown is not getting set until after the grid paints.That seems unlikely and should work, anyway.
So that leaves data types. What is the DataType of the grid column and what is the DataType of the ValueMember column in the dropdown? These must match in order for it to work properly.
It was the datatype in the database. One was char(10), the other was varchar(10). Obviously not matching the trailing spaces.
