Best practices for RDP / Terminal Server / Remote Desktop use?
posted

I have an application that is now being used remotely.  The screens are drawing very slowly.  I have made some changes like creating a new application style with no gradients, hiding the ribbon menu by default, etc.  It's still not extremely speedy.  I also have tried having them reduce the setings to 28.8k experience and 256 colors.

Is there anything else I can try?   It looks like some of the controls may be drawing themselves more than once when the form is displayed, causing a lot of delay, but I'm not sure why.

Nevermind, despite reminding him 3 times, it turns out he was running remote desktop to a server that was not local to the DB server, causing a lot of database connectivity delays.
