I have a popup menu with the toolbar manager that I want to use on a few trees in a form. Is there a property in the tool click event that tells me what the calling control is? Am i going to have to do a hit test, or something with the before popup event?

To my knowledge there is no such event or property. You could either hook to the right click events of the controls or go your way. Another way might be by hooking to the 'ItemClick' event and check the location of the mouse in the form and do a test for it(hope this will not be too late for you).
