Hi,
using the grid with hierarchical data, i see one main band and several childbands. These bands are all known at designtime. Is it possible to use outlook grouping on an child band changeing only the view of this particular band? I already tried to get it work changing some properties of this band... no effect.
desired result:
Any help for me? Thanks!

Yes, I can see how it might be confusing for a user. Even I have trouble wrapping my mind around what it means to group the data based on a child row sometimes. :)
But there is currently no way to move the GroupByBox onto a child row like your screen shot here.
I recommend that you Submit a feature request to Infragistics.
Hi Mike,
you are right! You described the behavior parent band = normal data, child band = groped. But in case of complex data it can be confusing to the user to drag a column to the top of the grid and the view of the pending data / childs is changed.
Thanks a lot!
I'm not sure I understand your question. What do you mean by "Is it possible to use outlook grouping on an child band changeing only the view of this particular band?"
Do you mean that you want the parent band to display normal data rows and then only display GroupByRows for the child band underneath those data rows? This is the way the grid works by default.
The screen shot you have here is showing the GroupByBox in the middle of the grid - only on the child band. There is no way to do that. The GroupByBox will always display at the top of the grid.
