I use UltraGridExcelEporter.

is it possible to open an excel file when using the export function, instead of saving to file?

    As far as I know, Microsoft Excel requires an Excel file in order to open something. So you have to save the Excel Workbook to a file, there's no way to simply open one that is in memory.

    You can, of course, save the file and then launch it in Excel from your application.
