Using the older Com/activeX Ultragrid, has anyone been able to get a VB.NET project, using the legacy control, to be able to edit cells?

I've tried changing my adors locktypes, cursor types, etc.  

 SSUltraGrid2.Override.AllowUpdate = UltraGrid.Constants_AllowUpdate.ssAllowUpdateYes

 eventArgs.layout.bands.item(0)..Columns.Item("CompanyName").Activation = UltraGrid.Constants_Activation.ssActivationAllowEdit

So far no joy.

Any ideas, or is the Com/ActiveX control just too old, dead, unsupported, :(
