Hello
I need a sample where it has been shown how to create a text editor which can highlight syntax.
The language is a custom language with some functions and identifiers. The function list is available as a list of strings. Identifiers start and end with a particular set of characters.
Kindly advise.
Thanks
Abhishek
Hi Abhishek,
Thank you for posting in our forums.
You can check out our samples browser. Under the legacy samples you can find the “Custom Language Syntax Parsing” sample, which shows how to define custom language with its own grammar. By default you can find the source for the samples under:
C:\Users\Public\Documents\Infragistics\(Infragistics Version)\Windows Forms\Samples
Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
Hi Dimitar
Thanks for the reply.
I see a "Infragistics Syntax Parsing" folder in samples but cant find "Custom Language Syntax Parsing" folder under it.
I am currently using 2011.2. What is the minimum version under which I can see this ?
Csn you provide the sample to me as zip/attachment because it is not immediately possible to install new version?
Best
Thank you for the reply.
The CustomLanguage support was added to our Synthax Parsing language in version 12.2. For more information, please see our “What’s New” article for 12.2:
http://help.infragistics.com/Help/Doc/WinForms/2015.1/CLR4.0/html/Whats_New_in_2012_Volume_2.html#_Ref335129146
I can provide you with the sample itself but I am not allowed to also provide you with the necessary DLLs in order to run it. What I would suggest to you is to download our latest version as trial. You will have access to our sample and you will be able to evaluate them.
Thanks for the reply and FYI, we have currently active subscriptions for IG ultimate.
I downloaded the latest version and checked out the samples. Here are the questions:
1 - Is it possible to have a WinForms Syntaxeditor through use of RichTextBox and Syntax parsing framework ?
Or Is XamSyntaxEditor with ElementHost inside WinForms the only way to go ?
2 - We need to host 5-10 syntax editors on a single form. Kindly comment about any performance issues that might occur in this case.
3 - Kindly provide a small working sample of a winforms syntax editor where custom language can be added through code. As I mentioned earlier, we have list of functions as list of string. And the identifiers start and end with a particular set of characters.
Pl advise.
Hello ,
Hi Hristo
Since a Winforms syntax editor does not exist, kindly provide the sample for xamSyntaxEditor.
As I mentioned, we have the list of functions as a list of string and identifiers start with a "[" and end with "]"
We would like to add the symbols programmatically rather than through EBNF file.
I looked up the samples for xamSyntaxEditor, and while there is a custom language with EBNF sample, I couldnt find the programmatic custom language sample.
Hello Abhishek,
I am just checking about the progress of this issue. Let me know if you need my further assistance on this issue.
Thank you for using Infragistics Components.
