Hello,
I've tried asking my question here: http://ko.infragistics.com/community/forums/t/81658.aspx
But received no response there.
I'm using a nested XamDataGrid (v15.1), let's say Orders -> Order lines. On the nested grid (Order lines), if there are no records, the column headers are not displayed.
The ObservableCollection that it is bound to is initialized, but empty. That was the answer to previous question about top-level grids, but it does not seem to work.
The only workaround I've found is to add a null to the collection and later remove it when there are new records added, but that is not a clean solution and looks more like a hack.
Is there any other way to accomplish this?
Regards,
Gediminas.
Thank you for your feedback.
I am very glad that my suggestion was helpful for you. If you require any further assistance on the matter, please do not hesitate to let me know.
I think the solution with hiding new record row suits our needs, since no changes in ViewModel code are required.
Thank You!
Hello Gediminas,
Thank you for your post.
I have been researching the functionality you are trying to achieve and it seems that currently our XamDataGrid control does not provide built-in the ability to display column headers when there are no records.
What I can suggest you in order to be able to achieve the functionality that you are looking for is to set the AllowAddNew property of FieldLayoutSettings for your parent or child layout to true, this way you enable the user to add records.
If you want to hide the empty record you can create style for DataRecordPresenter and by using DataTriggers you can determine whether the record is AddNew record or not - by using IsAddRecord property of DataRecordPresenter. If the record is AddNew record you can set its Height property to ‘0’.
I created short sample application based on your scenario in order to show you how you can implement this approach and achieve your requirement.
If you would like you can add 'the ability to display column headers when there are no records' as a suggestion for future implantation.
