Tabitem not getting focus

I have a xamdatagrid in a xamTabControl's tabItemEX.

On double click of a record in xamdatagrid  I am opening a new tabitem in tabcontrol and setting focus to the tabitem. But the new tab item is not getting focus.

Where it is getting focus when i click on contextmenu item.

What could be the problem?

    I was not able to reproduce this behavior. Can you give us the code that you are using to focus the tab item ex?
