Infragistics support for MS CAB Extensibility kit?
posted

Hi all,

(I am not sure whether this is the correct forum for this question, but in lack of a better option.....)

The CAB Extensibility kit contains an upgraded shell class (WPFFormShellApplication) and new WPF-implementations of the standard workspaces (Window, Mdi, Deck, Tab, Zone). My problem is that I am using the workspaces that are a part of NCEK, and cannot utilize the CAB Extensibility kit directly.

According to this blog post (which partly asks the same question), Curtis Taylor confirms that there exists a sample implementation for this, and promises to post it to the same thread. However, no sample has been posted.

Can you please provide a status for this code?

Actually I believe Curtis was referring to something else. Infragistics has for a long time included the NCEK (NetAdvantage CAB Extensibility Kit) with the WinForms install and that project is still included with the WinForms install. There is (and has been for a while now I believe) also included a second project in NCEK source which references our WinForms CAB project and also includes a custom derived shell class that adds the wpf related smartpart strategy and element adapter from the MS CAB project that they add in from within their WPFFormShellApplication class so this is probably the base shell class you would use. Note MS CAB (composite application block) is not the same thing as their CAL (composite application layer) or CAG (composite application guidance) which includes PRISM and I thought the WPF smart part related stuff they added to CAB was an early attempt at adding support for WPF stuff but I thought that project wasn't actively maintained anymore.
