If you put the TextEditor into an Horizontal Stackpanel so that it uses only the space the text needs, the Box is beeing resized if you click into it.
As you can see in the screenshot I attached, the default wpftextbox has the same size, having the prompt sign or not (line 2 vs. line 4).The xamTextEditor gets bigger when it is focused (line 3 vs. line 1)

Thank you for your post. I have been looking through it and I can suggest you set the Width of the XamTextEditor in order to prevent it to resize when it gets focus, because if you don’t set it, its size is determined by the text inside and when it gets focus, it resizes in order to have better look.
