The map control will render interactive geometry from shapefiles or from a Geo-spatial database. You can modify and add shapes to a layer programatically at runtime but the map doesn't have any built in controls for user shape editing or user shape generation. You could build these kind of facilities on top of the control or make a feature request (http://devcenter.infragistics.com/protected/requestfeature.aspx) if you anticipate this being an important feature for you. We'd be interested in hearing about how you want to use the control!
