Is there any reason why a SelectedValue property was not added to this control?
From the way I bind, a SelectedValue is a cornerstone to my architecture. It helps me to show what item has been previously selected and I use it as a binding to other objects. Generally I'll have an object with a number of ID's in it that translate into selected items in combo boxes. And, because I bind the ID to the SelectedValue in the combo box, when I select it, the value in my object will change.
Now, I need to use the multi column combobox, because there is no selected value, I have to have separate objects for each combo box and basically I have to trap the SelectedItemChanged event in every combobox to rebind choices. I did not have to do this because of a SelectedValue property.
What was the thinking that led up to the decision not to have a SelectedValue property, and are there any plans in the future to have one?
