Hi,
Is the merge feature for Cell available now?
Thanks and regards,
Jomy
Hello Mikey,
Thank you for oyur post. I have been looking into it and you can read more detailed information regaridng the differnece between the XamGrid and the XamDataGrid controls here: http://help.infragistics.com/NetAdvantage/WPF/current/CLR4.0/?page=Differences_Between_xamGrid_and_xamDataGrid.html. Those are two different grid controls that provides some common and some different features. The XamDataGrid controls is the first grid control in our WPF products and the XamGrid was originally created as the grid control for our Silverlight product. The XamGrid control was added to the NetAdvantage for WPF in version 11.2, when the control was designed to be a cross platform control (the same control to be use in both WPF and Silverlight).
The XamDataGrid control, does not currently supports merging of the cells when grouping the grid, so what I can suggest is adding a new Product Idea for having this functionality built-in. You can suggest new Product Ideas for future versions (or vote for existing ones) at http://ideas.infragistics.com.
Steps to create your idea:
The benefits of submitting the product idea yourself include:
- Direct communication with our product management team regarding your product idea.
- Notifications whenever new information regarding your idea becomes available.
Additional benefits of the Product Idea system include:
- Ability to vote on your favorite product ideas to let us know which ones are the most important to you. You will have ten votes for this and can change which ideas you are voting for at any time.
- Allow you to shape the future of our products by requesting new controls and products altogether.
- You and other developers can discuss existing product ideas with members of our Product Management team.
The product ideas site allows you to track the progress of your ideas at any time, see how many votes it got, read comments from other developers in the community, and see if someone from the product team has additional questions for you.
Thank you for contacting Infragistics.
Sincerely,
Krasimir, MCPD

Any news on this feature? It's Q4 2013 and I'm wondering if there is at least a workaround code you guys can provide to allow cell merging in XamDataGrid
We use XamDataGrid extensively in our solution and changing to another control (XamGrid) is just not a practical or sensible option. Nor does XamGrid support theming which we underlies all our visuals.
I struggle to understand the need for two similar but feature-conflicting versions of the same thing which forces users to adopt one at the sacrifice of features of the other. Infragistics should understand that devs adopting third party suites like this are not always doing this by choice as this can be stifling especially for WPF devs given WPF's unparalleled flexibility - but these decisions usually come from above. We are not helped when these constraints are made unnecessarily even worse by providing such curious disparities between base controls. This is otherwise a good time saving control suite - when using out of the box features - but please let's keep the power and flexibility of WPF as transparently accessible to allow easy modification as this seems quite a chore for the simplest of things. Please move this to a new post if neccessary.
Regards
Mikey
Hi Dimi Gineva,
Thanks for your update. Hope you guys will be providing this feature soon. We are looking in to this.
Hi Jomy,
I am just checking if the latest reply helped you out and if you require any further assistance on the matter.
Currently we don’t have this feature for xamDataGrid. But we have it in XamGrid: http://help.infragistics.com/NetAdvantage/WPF/2012.1/CLR4.0/?page=xamGrid_Merged_Cells.html
You can find the following forum post demonstrating how you can achieve manual cell merging in to XamDataGrid: http://ko.infragistics.com/community/forums/t/62864.aspx
Please let me know if you have any furthered questions.
