Creating Mobile Dashboards using LightSwitch and ReportPlus

Check out this blog post from Christopher Finlan, about the power of ReportPlus when used in conjunction with Microsoft's LightSwitch. In case you don't know Microsoft LightSwitch is described by Microsoft as a self-service development tool for non professional programmers who want to build data-centric, line of business applications. (sounds a lot like Microsoft Access, right? )

Well, the thing is LightSwitch allows to create OData services, and since ReportPlus supports consuming OData it's a match made in heaven :)

Also, as Christopher points out, the lack of out of the box reporting options for LightSwitch is a major drawback, and in this sense ReportPlus ties in very well into LightSwitch rapid solution development story by providing an environment to author mobile dashboards with no programming required.

When he describes ReportPlus, he says:

"It has more features then you can shake a stick at, is simple to use, and gives a whole new group of users the power to create really slick mobile dashboards with no coding or PC required.  And Infragistics also has an Enterprise Solution available if you're looking to have even more control on what features you allow your users to leverage, branding, etc."

He even describes the option to share dashboards as PowerPoint slides. He comments on the PowerPoint template the app uses:

"And before you ask, yes, you can get rid of all the annoying ReportPlus logos in the presentation (no offense Infragistics, but you should really have the option to export it without the logo in the paid app)."

No offense taken, in fact that can be rebranded in the Enterprise version :)
