I'm trying to attach a zip file that I created using the New Compressed (zipped) Folder feature of Windows XP to my support request. On the New Support Request Page, I clicked Browse and in the Choose File dialog that came up, I navigated to the zip file. Then I clicked Open and all that happened is that the dialog navigated to the contents of the zip file. I couldn't attach it, although I could attach ordinary files.
I tried changing the extension of the zip file to something else, but that doesn't seem to help.
In order to work around the problem I created the archive with WinZip and uploaded that.
I uninstalled WinZip and the upload still works OK.
That's what I had done in my tests. I don't use WinZip.
The problem had to do with the OS treating zip files as folders. Your system may not be set up this way, but I think this may be the default configuration with Windows XP.
I installed WinZip and used it to zip up my files, and I was able to submit the zip file with no problem.
Try to submit a zip file on a Windows XP system with a default configuration and no WinZip installation.
I just tested this and it worked fine for me. I tested on both Vista and XP, both using Internet Explorer 7.
The dialog that appears after you click the "Browse" button is the "choose file" dialog provided by the operating system. As Ed mentioned, it provides two buttons. The "Open" button is supposed to include the specified file as what to attach, while the "Cancel" button is used to cancel attaching a file.
I'm assuming you're using XP as your operating system; please correct me if I'm wrong. What browser are you using?
The Choose File dialog only has two button, Open and Cancel. After that is closed, there is a Submit Button.
Someone from Infragistics should try this. It's broken.
