You may have noticed a change in the forums, and especially community.infragistics.com. Not only have we updated the site to be easier to use and find data, we've also added a bunch of new content! If you run into any problems with the new site, you can add a reply to this post with your issue. We have a short list of known issues at this point that we're working hard to correct. I will update this post as the issues are found and resolved.

Missing Avatars, Profiles: During the transition to the new system, some profiles were cleared. Your user login should still work fine, but if you uploaded an avatar, it may be missing. We're working to try and get the info back, but recommend you upload a new avatar and update your profile information.
Missing "My Discussions" from forums list: We're working to get this shortcut back in the main page, until then you can go directly to https://ko.infragistics.com/community/forums to see all posts that you are involved in.

Some of the Media items don't play: Some of the screencasts encodings are not supported by Silverlight. We're working to get those re-encoded. In the meantime, you can download the video and play it in Windows Media Player.

Search: Searching provides results for all forums, need a way to search a specific forum or group.
[UPDATE 3/18/2009 - Sub Search is back!]
IE6: There are display problems with IE6.
[UPDATE 3/18/2009 - Most display issues resolved, still limited by IE6 PNG support]
Missing Images: Some forum posts are missing images, or the images are not showing up properly.
[NOTE: We're looking into this and hope to have a solution shortly. There is a size limitation on file attachments, so be sure not to exceed 200kb]

Tony,

Overall, looks really nice.

But the new search results page is goofed up. It puts some kind of image behind the title. (see attached image)

A quick update on some issues that have been addressed:

Search page layout fixed and released to production

Search page paging forecolor fixed, will be released in next push

Ability to search within a forum or sub-forum is complete, in test at the moment

IE6 compatibility issues corrected and a greater representation of the design has been achieved, this is under test and will be released in our next push

More fixes are in the works!

When do you expect the search within forum or subforum to be pushed out? This was my primary means of discovering 'how to' within infragistics. or is the old site available on a mirror somewhere?

When will the forum search return?

I understand the workaround with the "Search this site", but a nice simple text box to "Search this forum and subforums" in the forum heading is sorely missed...

I expect that we will publish the sub section searching some time today. This will appear within a pod on the right hand side of areas that support sectional searching (all forums for example).

Other items that have been fixed are as follows:

95% compatibility with IE6

Blogs with missing images have had their images restored

Forums with attachments that could not be downloaded previously should be accessible again

Rod - the changes are still being tested. The recommendation in the meantime is to add the platform or control name to the search - for instance if you wanted to look for sorting related to webgrid, search for "WebGrid sorting". The data should also be searchable through google.com so you can do a google search for webgrid sorting site:forums.infragistics.com

Also, I encourage you to read through the articles and code samples, and watch the various screencasts that are available which should also prove to be great learning tools.

I'll let you know as soon as the search functionality is up - we tested a version today but had some issues with the UX so I'm not sure if we're still on schedule to have that pushed tonight.
