Hi,
We are looking for upgrading our infragistics 2009 to 2011 to support Visual Studio 2010 and .NET 4.0. I have two questions as below:
1. Whether there is license for upgrading from 2009 to NetAdvantage for .NET 2011? or we need to purchase completely new license?
2. I understand the infragistics license is per developer. Wondering if we need to purchase license for developers who don't touch/edit Infragistics UI components at all, but simply build it. It seems there is a way to build .NET solution in Visual Studio which references Infragstics DLLs without license. But wanted to check and make sure this is not against the license policy.
Thanks a lot!
Hello,
Thanks for reaching out to Infragistics! I've directed your question to your Infragistics Account Manager. She will be following up with you shortly and will handle all of your questions.

Jeremy,
I have similar questions I would like to have answered by someone. Ill copy the specific question below. If I should direct this question somewhere else, please let me know. Thanks
We are thinking about upgrading from an older version of .net controls (v9.1) to the latest controls to ensure browser compatibility. We have yet to purchase the new controls and would like to have a couple questions answered before we proceed.
Context/Application:
We have a suite of tools that includes a small web piece that has a couple ultrawebgrids that are not working in newer browsers. We are looking to replace these grids. We have quite a few developers that would need to be able to build the web application, but only a handful of developers that would touch the html/front end and need the license for the newer controls.
Questions:
1.) What is the process for upgrading from 9.1 to the latest controls?
Are there more instructions anywhere to be found besides http://ko.infragistics.com/community/blogs/taz_abdeali/archive/2011/11/17/asp-net-product-changes-in-2011-volume-2.aspx? Maybe even a guide more specific to the older controls.
2.) What is the process for getting a .NET web project to build in visual studio without a infragistics license?
Only a handful of developers need access to the ability to work with the Infragistics controls or front end of the web app, but lots more developers need the ability to build the solution and work on the business layer of the application. We have noticed that this seems to be a common request but havnt found any solid instructions on setting up a visual studio project to be able to be worked with without having the controls installed on your machine.
3.) Are there any guides for replacing the old UltraGrids with the new WebDataGrids?
We leverage a lot of functionality of the old grids and would like to know if there are any more complete guides on replacing these old controls, as far as all the different server and client API.
Please advise.
