I have:
Visual Studio professional 2013 Update 3windows 7 pro/64bitinfragistics pro 2014.1 (build 14.1.20141.2108), and many older versions
When i run the visual studio extension (infragistics, check for updates), it gets part way to 'retrieving installed infragistics products', then pauses. The i get Visual Studio 2013 has stopped working.
From event log i found: Infragistics.VSExtension, System.NullReferenceException Infragistics.Wrapper.Interface.Utilities.VersionlessSettings.AreAnyProductsInstalled()
I downloaded the visual studio extension from infragistics and ran a repair. This finished ok but did not seem to help the problem.
I later removed and re-installed infragistics visual studio extension (Infragistics_VSExtension_20141.msi). Did not help.
I ran Visual studio 2010 and tried the same thing, this also crash in the same way.
Hi OttawaDeveloper,
I consulted with the developers of the visual studio extension and this seems similar to a bug that we had before in the 14.1 installer. Are you using the latest 14.1 visual studio extension? Try uninstalling the extension and then using the 14.1 platform installer to download the latest extension available and try with that.
If you need the 14.1 update now, you can download it from the My Keys and Downloads page in your account. https://ko.infragistics.com/my-account/keys-and-downloads Just click on your 14.1 license key and below it will appear a list of downloads. Click on Service Release and you will be able to download it from there.
Does your network have any restrictions on applications accessing the internet? It might be blocking the platform installer from access.
I have attached the installer I used during my testing. This was downloaded today via the 14.1 platform installer. Give it a try.
Thanks, i was able to run the attachment, indication are the version of the vs extension installer is 14.1.49 (from control panel/programs and features).
I removed and re-installed it using that. Do difference, it crashes as before.
I don't think there is anything block internet on this end, and i have done other updates before.
I was trying to download your update package, but cannot download it from the website.
I think maybe your server is down or overloaded, when i try to download...
The server at download.infragistics.com is taking too long to respond.
That's weird. Maybe it has to do with what specific products you have installed. I know you have 14.1 but which exact products do you have installed (WPF, ASP.NET, etc)?
What product do you need to update? I can give you a direct download link to the SR that just released.
Just tried chrome 'the webpage is not available'
I guess your server is packaging up downloads for each person, maybe large downloads are messed/overloaded.
I have had infragistics for at least 3-4 years so there is a lot of stuff here. I think i did a cleanup as much as i could some months back of old versions, but that was hard to completely clean out.
I just tried with the link you sent and it did work. The download had started. I'm using Chrome.
Try using this link: http://download.infragistics.com/products/NetAdvantage/WPF/2014.1/SR/Infragistics_WPF_20141.2174_SR.zip. I also uploaded it to dropbox so if the download.infragistics.com link doesn't work for you, you can try this one. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/19105321/Infragistics_WPF_20141.2174_SR.zip
I'm glad it's working for you now. It's definitely weird that it just stopped occurring when you did nothing special. I'm inclined to think that it was the reboot that did it but I have no way of knowing for sure. It's unfortunate that we were not able to determine the exact cause.
Well that was weird. I did not touch this for a few days, then when i started VS, the updater came up correctly. I was able to update in the normal way.
I have no idea what fixed it, maybe the server was overloaded when i tried before, or perhaps some change on the server end.
Maybe a reboot of my machine fixed it. no idea.
Thanks, i was able to download from dropbox ok.
I'll have to try installing it another time - out of time for today.
