Pretty much everytime I run visual studio 2013, the infragistics installer pops up and tells me that
Infragistics Visual Studio Template GalleryRe-Release 2014.2.171
Is available as an update, I follow the wizard through and let it install, no problems reported, and yet I get prompted again next time I boot VS
Hi Bob,
What might be happening is that there is an ID for an older version stuck in your registry. If so, the template gallery would see that each time and try to upgrade. We might be able to edit the registry to fix it, but a far simpler approach is to uninstall the Template Gallery, then install the latest version. Please give that a try and let me know whether the issue is resolved. If not, I'll open a private case to ask for some logs and system files from you.
Thanks for your concern and answer. This was my problem too a long time ago.
Hello,
Did a you find that a reinstall resolved the issue? Please let me know.
I can't reinstall, there is no Visual Studio Template Gallery to remove in add remove programs!
How do I remove it?
You can uninstall a template through Visual Studio. Go to Tools > Extensions and Updates. From the Extensions and Updates Dialog, you can select to remove the Template Gallery.
The Template Gallery is not listed as an extension?
If the template gallery is not appearing in your list of extensions, then something must not be copying properly when it tries to install. I will need to ask for your log files and an export of the reg tree under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\12.0\ExtensionManager.
Since these files should not be shared publicly, please do not upload them here. Instead, you can email them to support@infragistics.com. Please put "ATTN: Mike B" and "CAS-149992-B9K6W4" in the subject line so that it will be properly routed to me.
If you are unsure how to obtain either of these items, please let me know.
The installer log says
2/17/2015 9:18:35 AM - Install to Microsoft Visual Studio Premium 2013 completed successfully. The extension has been installed to \
I believe this is part of the problem, it is installing in per user mode, but as the user needs to be elevated it is not installing to the current user
Hi Mike,
I know you said email but looking at the log there is nothing compromising it in...

Other log files say the same or Not supposed to check for updates, which is why I guess that it's intermittent that I've been getting this update as it has a 3 day interval.
The log file is generated at C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Temp.
I think I've figured out some of the issue from your request for the export...
I re-ran visual studio as administrator (it is a separate account) and the template is there in extensions.
I've un-installed it and now rerun the platform installer, modify and added the template back in.
I still have the same issue and again the templates are not in user account extensions but do appear in administrators.
Which log files do I need to grab and where from.
It looks like the installer only installs the extensions into the elevated users registry rather than into my user.
