In a responsive design, I can't seem to make elements overlap. For example putting a piece of text on top of a rectangle, or a button on top of an image. They are always separate in a cell and I can't find any options to make them overlap eachother.
Any help much appreciated.
Hi, Ross.
Responsive layouts in Indigo Studio are powered by Bootstrap (12-col grid). And as a consequence, it uses web-friendly layouts using margins (relative to other UI elements in the same cell). This way when you switch from mobile to tablet view, the UI elements either resize or stack based on available space automatically. This is also the reason they don't overlap.
You can see an example responsive layout here, which you can download and inspect.
Are you trying to create something that looks like a dialog? If you can share an image of what you are trying to create, we may be able to better assist you.
Hi,
I have the same problem and basically the main issue is that I want a to use an existing image as a background that covers the whole screen and ON TOP of it to have a textfied, a button, text and some link (that are responsive).
I've been using indigo studio for a long time now and this is the first time I've decided to use indigo studio to create a responsive webpage and as of now it seems unnecessarily complicated.
Are there any tutorials for the creation of responsive webpages in indigo studio?
Help would be much appreciated.
Thanks George. I was mainly trying to do what I've always done in Indigo, which is draw up screen elements using the drawing tools. For example, drawing a line graph using lines and circles, all on top of a coloured rectangle. I guess when using the responsive framework, I'll have to get used to drawing those elements outside of Indigo and importing as single images.
But doing a dialog did cross my mind as something I might want to do at some point and I don't see any way to do that. Can you help?
One other thing (sorry) - is there a way to set the maximum width of content? Most responsive sites don't keep expanding indefinitely with the screen size. See, for example, The Verge. As you increase the width of the screen, the content eventually settles into a fixed-width column in the centre of the screen. Is there a way to make that happen in Indigo?
Thanks
