My project is upgrading from .net framework 2.0 to 3.5 and we're upgrading infragistics (mainly UltraWebGrid) from 7.3.20073.1043 to 9.1.20091.2040. So far so good..
My client's are running IE6 and will upgrade to IE8 via Windows 7 later on this fall, but we have a major issue with performance.
Earlier the performance was within reason. We have limited the number of rows in the grids to 200, but with the new version it takes forever to render the page. Database searches usually takes < 0.02 secs so that's not an issue. The grids does not have any fancy features on, simply there to display data. The number of columns differ, but they does not exceed 15 so it shouldn't be an issue in my mind.
FireFox renders the grids in < 1 sec and IE sometimes > 30 secs.
Iv'e spent a few hours going through the forums looking for clues, but all I could find was people with the same issues.
My client does NOT want paging nor "Load on demand", they would rather be able to display > 200 rows.
What can I do to increase performance in IE8, or when can I expect a hot fix for the problem?
I upgraded from 2008 vol1 to 2009 vol 1 and the performance of the grids has been horrible. Earlier it use to take less than a second , now In IE 8 its taking more than 30 seconds. Please let us know a solution to this quickly.
Hi,
After installing hotfix NetAdvantage_ASPNET_20091_SR_2055 the performance have been better on the dev server (Win2003). On my dev pc (XP SP3) performance still is ultrapoor.
I'm still waiting for the solution though.
Don't waste your time on support, it's a joke, I've submitted a (priority) support request and was shown the usual smoke and mirrors, and for the record 9.1 is better than the other service releases, I've tried 9.2 all the way up to 10.2 and it's made outlook grouping worse, I've submitted an example and all of dev/support working together could not improve performance in the slightest!
If outlook grouping doesn't perform, then stop advertising it as a feature! This has caused me no end of trouble and I ended up making my own. It's 50:50 fault ratio between IE8's poor javascript/rendering and sloppy coding from the infragistics crew, and if anyone from infragistics want to prove me wrong then just deliver the example I sent. Support has wasted months of my time with wishy washy answers and even had the audacity to suggest it was a fault on my end. If it is indeed a fault with my code then send me a working example.
Looking at the javascript behind the webgrid was worrying to say the least, the amount of string arrays and other junk you guys put into memory is beyond the joke. My suggestion is re-hire the original coders before you lose ALL your customers.
