I would also like to have one or more of the buttons selected but cannot find any property for that either.

If I can recall correctly I don't believe there was a way to set a button tool to be disabled in the ctp, sorry about the confusion. It's definitely been added to the upcoming release version of the control.
We've also added other tools like toggle buttons and checkboxes that you can use to set a button as selected.

Is there any way to get a new cut of the software. I am not releasing this to the client for months so do not mind if the current cut is buggy.
Checkboxes and Toggle buttons would help me big time.
