The xamDataChart was released after the xamWebChart.control. The xamDataChart control is designed to work very fast with tens of thousands data points. It has a lots of performance optimizations.

I have indeed read the content from the link you provided. Should I hence assume that gradually the xamWebChart will be deprecated or will it still be actively developed?
Also, I want granular control over the chart component in terms of data and appearance, which one would be better?
We are going to support and improve the both controls xamWebChart and xamDataChart in the our next release. New features will be released for these controls.
