I am trying to create a chart that takes real-time data (data is added to the right as data is removed from the left) . By default it appears that the x axis interval is evenly divided along the width of the chart. Instead of the axis labels sliding to the left as new data is added to the right, the axis labels simply stay in the same position and update their value (datetime in this case).
Is it possible to get these labels to slide to the left as new data is added to the chart? I don't think this is built in but I wonder if there is some way to do it some other way?

This isn't exactly what I am looking for. I think what your solution is doing is animating the updating of the axis. I want the labels and axis lines to march across the chart as new data is added to the beginning of the collection and removed from the end. Many chart libraries support this and I always thought it was a fairly standard feature.
