I have installed the Infragistics ASP.NET controls as a demo so that I can test somethings and see if this is the control set to use for our products. However, I do not see the tab in VS2008 designer for the web page and when I run the Infragistics2.ToolboxUtility.exe I get an error that I am not submitting the proper command-line arguments. I have tried everyone of the arguments and non seem to work.
Platform:
Windows XPVS2008.NET 3.5
Thanks,Lee Keel
Lee,
Were you running the Toolbox Utility from the Start menu? If not, what happens when you run it from there? If that does not work, you can always drag and drop the assemblies into a Visual Studio toolbox tab. More details on that approach are here.
I did run the toolbox from Start. It said it completed and when I do an 'Choose Items', the infragistics controls are checked like they are there. But the tab is not present in my Toolbox. I know I can do this manually, but then if I uninstall the product it won't remove the tab. Or at least that is what the documentation says. Any ideas?
I believe as long as you name the Visual Studio toolbox tab the same way the TBU would, when you uninstall the tab will be removed as well. The TBU names the tabs "NetAdvantage 8.2 Win" and "NetAdvantage 8.2 Web". However, if the TBU did not error out, then the VS toolbox tabs were successfully created.
When you are looking at the VS toolbox- do you have a Form or a Page open at design time? Or, if you right-click the VS toolbox and select "Show All" do you see the NetAdvantage tab(s) grayed out?
If I right click in the toolbox and select 'Show All', then I see the tab. But all controls are disabled? I am viewing an aspx page in design mode.
did you ever get this resolved? I have the same issue and not matter how I try to get the controls to show up in my toolbox, they are always disabled. I have been using Infragistics for many years and I get not get this fixed and it is very frustrating... I just upgraded to version 8.2 (.net 3.5) web controls...
Please help!
Thanks!
Are you using a Microsoft wireless mouse or keyboard? The following thread mentions similar problems applying to all third-party controls, not just those provided by Infragistics.
http://forums.infragistics.com/forums/p/2638/15961.aspx#15961
One user mentioned uninstalling and reinstalling the toolset, while another mentioned getting updated drivers for the wireless input device.
OMG - that is incredible... I was using a wireless mouse - removed it and added a "wired" mouse and all is working! :-)
Thanks for the tip! What a CRAZY issue!
