Has Infragistics abandoned UWP Controls?
Unfortunately, currently the market for UWP controls is almost non-existent. Due to this, we have focused our efforts in other areas that will provide value to our customer base. If the market for UWP improves, or if we have interest from our customers base, we will begin to invest in UWP again.
Out of curiosity, are you developing production UWP apps now, and if so which controls do you need most?
We am about to start building a Windows Desktop app at my company. This application will never be for mobile, it is really a LOB Desktop centric app. I was thinking about trying to do a MVVM app (prism?) UWP type application and get your latest greatest controls. But I've read posts about how UWP really was developed for the mobile market and really cannot deliver for Desktop LOB apps and your post seems to point out the marketing failure of UWP. We have built a windows 10 tablet app using Xamarin Forms targeting Windows 10 Tablet but the development in that really is a nightmare compared to Windows Forms (which we use Infragistics Controls). I feel like just sticking to Winforms for speed of development and user experience. What's a forward thinking VS developer supposed to do???????
Use the technology and platform that fits your business requirements, and which you are confident will help you be successful. Personally, UWP would not be my first choice for a LOB desktop application.
