Unable to drop data bound controls on win panel in In 20103.2056

Hi;

I saw that this issue was reported previously, yet it was never replied to.

Whenever you attempt to drop a databound control onto an Ultra Panel, the operation will fail with the error message:

An error occured while performing the drop. The size of the UltraPanelClient area can not be set.

I can confirm that this behaviour was also present in 20103.1000

Any ideas?

Hello,

I am not able to reproduce the mentioned issue. Please look at the attached video where I have an UltraGrid bound to Sql Server data and I am able to drop the grid onto UltraPanel and ordinary MS Panel. Please give me more information about your issue. Please give me the exactly steps that I should follow to reproduce this issue on my side.

Hi Hristo;

I had been using a very old version of Ig controls (i.e. v2.05001.40), although there was never a panel control with that suite.

I then installed 20103.1000

In VS 2008, all 20103 controls then appeared in references as "Infragistics2" (correct behavior I believe?

Removed all references of 2.05001.40 and replaced with 20103.1000.

Saved and closed solution then, cleaned and built solution.

Added data source to one of my projects.

Associated the IG 20103 controls with the relevant designer data types as previously described.

Added UltraPanel control to UltraTabStrip control on a new form (we will call this "Form A")

Attempted to drag associated data control onto panel, error occured

Closed project

ReOpened VS2008 and Created new WinForm project.

Added panel control to blank form, add data source, drag data source item onto panel - same problem.

Delete panel from form. Drag data source item onto form - no problem

Closed VS2008

Installed 20103.2056 patch

Reopened original project.

Drag UltraTextEditor or UltraCheck box onto panel, standard "Object not set to instance" error message.

Drop any other Ultra data source associated object on to panel - no problem.

Close VS2008.

Completely uninstall IG 20103

Reinstal 20103 then re apply patch

Open solution, delete ALL IG references and re-apply references.

Attempt to open Form A, crash VS2008

Attempt to open any other form with UltraPanel - Crash VS2008 - Note: All crash forms are panel contained within UGTabStrip control page.

New VS 2008 winform project, panel on winform, original error message.

In addition, these additional problems have occurred which I posted in this thread, which Mike answered (please look at this)

I checked the project and assembly folder and can confirmed that all are 100% accrding to mikes instructions. - The form tray problem still occurs.

Am running Win7 on 64bit - current solution is set to compile to x86

I have also opened a case (only case I have under my user name) - This seems to be an installation based issue and my guess is that it may have something to do with the very old version that was previously installed.

Hello ,

Usually after you delete old reference, you should delete all content of the of the licenses.licx (it should be in Properties folder in Solution Explorer) and save it, then clean and rebuilt the solution . As far as I understand your issue you get an error when you try to drag a control onto a panel, could you copy this error and provide me call stack or details about the error.

Hi Hristo;

I fianlly figured out what has gone wrong, and I think I may have uncovered a relatively serious issue.

I initally installed 20103.1000

I then customized my data source controls to utilize IG controls.

About a week later I then upgarded to 20103.2056.

When I upgraded, it appears that the references to to the Windows Form Designer\Data UI Customization objects were not upgraded as they were all showing as 20103.1000.

Therefore, whenever I dragged a bound control onto a form:

The error message I was referring to was invoked.

A reference to the relevant 20103.1000 was then being added to the project file, thus replacing the existing 20103.2056 reference

Due to the fact that there is no Infragistics2.Win.v.10.3.Design (20103.1000) dll in the Assembly cache, the dragged component was then appearing in the form tray.

It all seems perfectly logical now I have figured it out with your help. Once I reassigned all the Data UI controls to the correct version, fixed the referenced assemblies, then rebuilt my solution, everything now seems to work correctly.

This scenario, causes major problems for all projects on the PC, and I am requesting that you open a case, as I believe this issue needs to be fully investigated and resolved with urgency.

Could you please let me know what the decision is, and I sincerely appreciate all the help you have given me in this matter.

Hello,

Since the VS stores the references for linking the UI components with the data sources, so we do not have control over that. The VS keeps the reference to the specific version of the control at the time you add the toolbox item you would have to update the toolbox when you are installing the new service release.
