We are testing an upgrade from Infragistics V15.1..20151.1000 to V15.2.20152.1000 and see an exception 15.2 that we do not see in 15.1 and have made zero code changes (just imported the 15.2 DLLs). Two of the stack traces are shown below. In our test environment, we get this error when a XamDataChartis initially rendered and then do not see this error again even when changing data displayed on the XamDataChart, unless we close and re-open the screen containing the XamDataChart (a new XamDataChart is created in this event, so it seems something changed with the way a XamDataChart is created/displayed for the first time?). In some spots of our code, the VS studio stops on a XamDataChart.Flush() call, but I don't see a reference to any of our code in the stack traces. Can some one determine what the issue is based on the stack trace, or do I need to try and provide an example application?

Hi Gary,
There is code inside the RenderAxisOverride method that is creating a new DateTime instance. For some reason this RenderAxisOverride method is passing a value that is outside of the range of acceptable values for the DateTime. Not sure why the ticks are not in range though. The ticks are calculated from the axis ActualMinimumValue property and it's interval so as long as those seem like valid dates it should produce proper tick values.
Do you have a sample that reproduces this exception that you can send me? I currently have a LineSeries along with a CategoryDateTimeXAxis and at application startup I provide it with data but the chart renders as expected and I don't see an exception. I'm using 15.2.20152.1000.
Is this still an issue? If so, do you have a sample that reproduces this that I could take a look at?
Hi Howard,
That's unfortunate. As I had mentioned previously there is only one place in that call stack where we use the DateTime constructor and the values passed in to it are directly tied to the ActualMinimumValue and the axis interval. Specifically it looks like this:
double majorX = ActualMinimumValue.Ticks + i * interval;long ticks_ = (long)Math.Floor(majorX);DateTime dateValue = new DateTime(ticks_);
Where ActualMinimumValue is a property directly on CategoryDateTimeXAxis and interval is either the auto-calculated one or a user specified one. This is why I had asked for what the ActualMinimumValue and Interval properties were set to because if these values are somehow incorrect then it could cause that constructor to fail. And if those values are incorrect then we need to figure out why they are. Generally these values are calculated based on the data provided to the chart and they can be overridden by setting the MinimumValue property.
Hi Rob - I took my issue to another ticket. See CAS-178028-K4Z0D6 which has further details if you are interested. We couldn't find a solution so ended up moving away from the Infragistics chart.
Regards, Howard.
When this exception occurs, can you look and see what the CategoryDateTimeXAxis.ActualMinimumValue is? Also check what the ActualInterval property is set to. The only place inside RenderAxisOverride in which we use the DateTime constructor is on one line where we instantiate a new DateTime object using the Ticks value of the ActualMinimumValue as well as the interval. I would like to see if these values look ok. Also please provide the ActualMaximumValue.
We are seeing the same issue with Infragistics 16.1.20161.1000
Unable to create a standalone working example though.
Hi Rob, I have not had the chance to look at this again, but will post my results when I try the upgrade again. I don't have a sample at the moment. Thanks!
